First few days

Greetings from Australia,

Well, after much anticipation and talk about the QANTAS plane - the day of the big trip finally arrived.  Dad dropped us off at San Jose airport and we flew to LAX.  We had a few hours to spare in LAX so we visited EVERY store on the way to the QANTAS gate...and we do mean EVERY store.  There was lots to look at and lots to touch - very gently.  Thankfully we found a 4 year old to play with at the QANTAS gate and we played a few variations of "hide and seek" and "run around like a crazy person with a wheelie suitcase" until it was time to board the plane.

The flight left at around 1030 and Logan was asleep by 11.  Logan was a great flier and slept most of the way.  The highlight was a bit of turbulence about 20 minutes before we landed which he absolutely loved - which I guess is good...  However, when he started yelling out "Mayday Mayday we're going down" - which might be from the "Planes" movie - you could hear people all over the plane saying - "Did you hear that kid..." which just made him yell it out even louder...  Yep!  He had a blast...

Grandma and Bill (grandfather) picked us up at the airport and the adventure really began.  We've spent the last few days catching tadpoles with Bill, checking out the birds that visit the backyard (lorikeets, parrots, cockatoos and magpies), sorting through the bugs that Bill catches and trying to catch the fish in the fishpond - otherwise described as "feeding" the fish.

We have had a blast meeting all the cousins and we've been having fun playing with Hamish who is about 3 months older than Logan.  Hamish and Logan took the train to a park the other day and they even met Santa who gave them lollipops.

We're looking forward to a week of exploring.  So, it's off to bed.  Our new bedtime ritual is to look for geckos with Bill and his flashlight.  Here's what we found  tonight.  We'll post more in a few days.  See you soon.
